Surface tension behavior of superspreading and non-superspreading trisiloxane surfactants

چکیده
Abstract One parameter frequently considered to be relevant for superspreading of trisiloxane surfactants is surface tension kinetics. In the scientific literature, some experimental results reported are in contradiction with fundamental concepts surfactant monomer diffusion. Therefore, maximum bubble pressure tensiometry has been used determine dynamic (DST) two types surfactants: superspreader and non-superspreader. Results show that both behave similarly at concentrations below critical micelle concentration (CMC), as expected. The CMC curves, determined by drop shape analysis, confirmed more hydrophilic non-superspreader a higher compared hydrophobic superspreader. Accordingly, lower DST than same age. So, contrary claims there nothing mysterious or unexpected concerning behavior surfactants. Graphical

Smoothing of contact lines in spreading droplets by trisiloxane surfactants and its relevance for superspreading.
Superspreading, the greatly enhanced spreading of aqueous solutions of trisiloxane surfactants on hydrophobic substrates, is of great interest in fundamental physics and technical applications. Despite numerous studies in the last 20 years, the superspreading mechanism is still not well understood, largely because the molecular scale cannot be resolved appropriately either experimentally or usi...
متن کاملSuperspreading SARS Events, Beijing, 2003
Superspreading events were pivotal in the global spread of severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS). We investigated superspreading in one transmission chain early in Beijing's epidemic. Superspreading was defined as transmission of SARS to at least eight contacts. An index patient with onset of SARS 2 months after hospital admission was the source of four generations of transmission to 76 case...
متن کاملCritical wetting concentrations of trisiloxane surfactants
Trisiloxane surfactants also known as “superspreaders” are characterized by a critical wetting concentration (CWC) which has been determined by Svitova et al (Langmuir. 1998. 14, 50235031). CWC is a concentration above which a transition from partial wetting to complete wetting occurs at spreading over moderately hydrophobic surfaces, hence, the CWC is associated with the beginning of the super...
